What’s love got to do with it?
Haven’t posted in a while. Figured I’d share some thoughts from my Cultural Psychology. We’re currently learning about “Romantic Marriages”, are they still important?
Currently learning about marriage as a concept to different cultures.
Sounds to me that a lot of people in the western culture (like in some foreign countries) would settle for a common-law relationship rather than getting married. These relationships are now seen as a norm as it is a means to making children, or simply for the sake of attaining a status. Love is just out of the question.
“I don’t see the benefits to marriage.” says one student.
“It’s an expectation of society.” says another. “It depends on your perspective on what marriage is.”
Some went on to say “Just because you’re married, doesn’t mean, you’re committed mentally, sexually, emotionally.”
That was a WTflip moment for me! These individuals do not see the point of being committed to one person, or even being romantic in a committed relationship. This was astounding to hear because of what I’ve grown up to believe about marriage, and further, what I KNOW marriage to be.
Maybe I’m still a hopeless romantic by saying this, but does nobody want to fall in love anymore? I understand that in some cultures, it is normal to be apart of an arranged marriage, though I’ve met people in which this is the case, but they still fell in love. I also understand that this concept is a danger to cultural relativism, but I would argue to say that there is universality in wanting to be loved. But then again, “define love” says the University Professor. “Love is just a word, one that is open to subjective interpretation.” The fact that there are operational parameters on such concept is foreign to me, though I do live in a culture where “the facts” rule any decision on how life should be. Sad truth.
There are definitely cross-cultural differences in many aspects of social interaction, but what is your input on this discussion?
Does this surprise you? Why do you think certain individuals think this way? What do you think about romantic marriages/relationships? What’s love got to do with it?
All perspectives are welcome. Respond in the comment box below!

Had a little fun with auto tune in garage band. For a live track, we were pretty impressed. Did this after practicing a few times, then filming in one take!
We’re both amateur musicians, though artists that still want to be heard! Please go easy on us! lol!

Hey Tumblr, I’m very sporadic with my posts, but I hope you’re still following! Please share this video with anyone that you feel would appreciate this.
I realize that I’m a bit late, but this post means a lot to me!
Happy Valentine’s Day!Have you ever fought for love?
Endured a long struggle to be with someone?
Waited an eternity for reconciliation?
Maybe your heart was broken for love.
Maybe it’s unconditional or unreciprocated.
This video is dedicated to YOU.
If that love is worth it, NEVER give up.
This especially goes out to my Mother (Sherry Laserna), and my Father (Bong Laserna), two extraordinary individuals. They fight for their love, not on their own terms, but by keeping Christ as the center of their marriage. It’s that kind of love that has inspired me to marry someone with that same goal. Maybe someday… I’ll be able to fight for that same love.
Valentine’s day is a great reminder that we are, in fact, loved. Despite the commercialized day of love, people remember how much they care or have cared about somebody. It doesn’t even need to be a romantic relationship. Friends, family, maybe even strangers have a tendency to feel love on this day. No matter how many cynics, pessimists and hipsters brush off the idea of love or being loved, we as humans, are made to love.
Please enjoy this video! Like, Comment, and Subscribe!
Love,
Renz

I WANT THEM ALL!
GIVEAWAY TIME!
Okay guys, it’s December and all my Christmas orders for TheFloor are filled up. But I do have just enough room in my timetable to work on one more pair of shoes.
So, I’ve decided to do a reblog competition. Reblog as many times as you like (likes don’t count), and for each reblog you’ll get another chance of winning. On Christmas Day, a winner will be selected at random, and I’ll then message that person asking what design they want and what size/colour of shoe.
The winner will be receiving their design on branded Converse shoes unless otherwise agreed. I’m not quite in a financial situation where I can be giving away Docs just yet! I am, however, prepared to ship to pretty much anywhere!
The original post must be unaltered in your reblogs!
And please remember that you can still place orders in my stores for the new year. =)
